Long Shoals Wayside Park

We were traveling along Hwy 11 (Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Highway)  and came across Long Shoals Wayside Park.  It sits just across from Keowee-Toxaway State Park.   I originally didn’t think I was up for it – we had a long day of hiking and my legs were beat!  However, my husband convinced me, even though looking at the stairs looked daunting.  I am so glad he did!  We would have missed a gem!

There are picnic tables and port-a-potties in the parking area (and it’s free!)  Once you get down the rock/dirt stairs, sit back and enjoy!  Perfect spot for sliding down the rocks, exploring the “tide pools” as my daughter called them, or just resting.  It was the perfect end to a long day!
